With 3,750 MW of installed capacity, Jirau Energia is responsible for the Jirau Hydroelectric Power Plant on the Madeira River (RO). Operating under the run-of-river model and with low environmental impact, the energy generated by the company supplies more than 10 million homes. A benchmark in sustainability, Jirau has international certifications and has been involved in the socio-economic development of the Amazon since it was built.
With a focus on renewable and sustainable energy, the company is constantly seeking to modernize its operations and guarantee cyber security, as well as meeting growing regulatory and environmental requirements. Before the new solution, there were operational challenges: "We had technical difficulties in protecting and recovering critical data, with solutions that had low reliability and high recovery times. This put essential systems at risk and created insecurity for employees," said the Jirau team.
The need for innovation came with a clear objective: "We wanted to increase information security, ensure regulatory compliance and strengthen our incident response capacity, in line with the company's digital transformation objectives."
With the support of EBS-IT, Jirau adopted Veeam Backup, achieving operational and technical gains: the solution made it possible to centralize and automate data protection routines, guaranteeing high availability, rapid response to incidents and protection against threats. In addition, the tool has facilitated audits and compliance reports, directly supporting the continuity and governance pillars.
